Feeding All the People
Breakfast is the meal I most need to have planned ahead of time for hectic school mornings and feeding three hungry boys. I can fudge just about any other meal, even if it means serving actual fudge.
Sausage and Bacon Breakfast Pizza
This pizza generally requires toppings already hanging around in the refrigerator: sausage, cheese, bacon. Leftovers and healthy things like peppers and tomatoes are perfect ingredients to add as pizza toppings. So, it could be called “Sausage and Bacon and Whatever Else You Want for Breakfast Breakfast Pizza.”
Bonus: this pizza is good hot or cold. I’m not kidding.
You can make or purchase your own pizza dough. My favorite store-bought pizza dough is the dough that Whole Foods sells. If you don’t find it in the refrigerator case across from the deli, march right up to the counter and ask for it. Someone will get it for you, because Whole Foods people are nice that way.
Make sure you let the dough get to room temperature and rise. I had the most success when I laid out on a flour-covered surface and walked away from it a bit. (The pizza guy at my local Whole Foods told me to not roll it. After it’s at room temperature, pick it up and let it stretch, working it slowly into a circle. Or circle-ish.)
Add any kind of flavor that works for you and your family. Grilled onions, fresh garlic, parsley. Add more toppings at will. The only rule: make sure your toppings don’t outweigh your pizza crust. 🙂
